Bed and Breakfast

Welcome to Thyme on the River, a Bed & Breakfast, located on the Coeur D’Alene River. You will find this in not a traditional formal B&B. Instead with a wildlife décor, the atmosphere is comfortable, casual and relaxing. Gale is a delightful cook and award winning baker. Her menu will reflect the flavors of the season. You may enjoy dining around the four sided fireplace or on the deck weather permitting. Dan, an avid fly fisherman finds fishing to be at its peak during the spring and fall. Our guests may find very good fishing holes right at the property.

This is also a charming location for milestone birthdays or anniversary celebrations, small business meetings and holiday gatherings. Contact the Inn and let us assist you with the details.

Attractions & Activities

Thyme on the River

There are many activities in the beautiful Silver Valley. Depending on the season, adventurous visitors may enjoy golf, tennis, mountain biking, biking, fishing, canoeing, rafting, hunting, snowmobiling and alpine or cross-country skiing. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can relax here at the Inn. There is a large deck and wrap-a-round porch where you may sit quietly and catch a glimpse of the wildlife, watch the wide variety of birds, listen to the river drifting by and take in the view of the mountains. Perhaps you'd like to visit the shops, restaurants and museums.

About The Owners

Summer on the river.

Dan & Gale Montgomery own the 3 story house and have transformed it into a pleasant, comfortable place to have a memorable stay. They have been married since 1973. Both grew up in San Francisco. Raised two sons, John & Eddie, in the bay area and each are in the United States Army National Guard. They have also welcomed a wonderful daughter-in-law, Nichole into the family. Eddie married Nichole here at Thyme on the River in June 2007. Dan, a retired garbage-man from Sunset Scavengers, San Francisco enjoys interest in fly fishing, hot rods and gardening. Gale has been a homemaker, and worked for many years for the school district to be close to their sons along the way perfecting her skills of cooking/baking, knitting and gardening with the goal of one day opening their own B&B. She has collected many ribbons for her efforts in baking and knitting. Dan & Gale both participate in volunteering their time and talents with several organizations/charities in their community. They each have a gift for hospitality and look forward to welcoming you for a visit.
